___Dave Lapp was
born in Sacramento, CA and educated at Petaluma
High School, Sonoma
State University (BA - Physics, Minor Math) and DePaul
University (MS - Physics)
___Mr. Lapp has taught Physics
at Tamalpais
High School since 1990. While at Tam, he has also taught Chemistry, Science in the Community, Business Math, Algebra,
and Calculus. Outside of the classroom he has worked as the
Science Department Chair (1993-1996), Tam Staff Development
Team (1995-1998), and Cross Country Coach (1998-2001). Before
coming to Tam, he taught physics for four years at James
B.Conant High School in Hoffman Estates, IL. He also
occasionally teaches Physics part time in the Department
of Physics and Astronomy at Sonoma
State University.
___He is active in the America
Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) and has
served in its Physics
Teacher Resource Agent (PTRA) program since 1996.
PTRAs work to help new inexperienced physics teachers to be
successful in the classroom. He also served from 1994-1997 as
an Editorial Board Member for The
Physics Teacher, AAPT's monthly journal.
___Mr. Lapp enjoys writing extensively
on topics realted to physics. He has published numerous
articles on the teaching of physics in The
Physics Teacher and Physics
Education, a British based journal for which
he serves as an International Advisor. In 2002 he wrote The
Physics of Music and Musical Instruments while
on leave as a Fellow
with the Wright
Center for Innovatice Science Education at Tufts
University. In December 2006, he completed the 8th
edition of his book, Physics: An Introduction. His classroom was also featured in the June 2007 issue of Edutopia. He has
also done technical writing for PASCO
Scientific and test question writing for ACT,
MCAT,
and the GSE.
___When Mr. Lapp is not in Room
65, he can be found in the Tam High Weight Room with Science
Teacher Jerry
Childers and Applied Technology teacher Michael
Rosloff. In the late afternoons and evenings he can
be found with his wife, Kim, and his four cats, Samantha, Smoky,
